Product Description

STRIKE ME LUCKY school incursion is a another great event to have hosted in the safety of your school classroom.

Meet Lucky, a nickname given to him on the Gold Fields in the 1850s, and discover how and why he got his name. With only a skeleton of a tent up, wooden crates which act as shelves and mainly spending most of his day away from his shelter ... could you really call this LUCKY! Let your students hear and experience real life stories and dramatisations of how it was to live on the Gold Fields. With thousands of diggers from all kinds of backgrounds set up along the Turon River - each person had only one thing on their mind and that was to strike it RICH!

The students will learn about the different types of gold that were present and the ways of mining their claims in 1852, an era when the Military and Gold Commissioners had control of the gold fields and would carry out licence checks which were called licence hunts. Strike Me Lucky - Australia's short but full of informative fun of Australia's Gold Discovery will take your school back to the period of time between 1851 from the first public discovery of gold at Ophir to 1855 and twelve months after Eureka Stockade and the Sovereign Queen is Queen Victoria of England.

The performance will allow students to explore the influences of gold and the Australian identity, environment and heritage.

Discover how Lucky, if he truly is lucky, found a way to make ends meet and live on the fields. With funny anecdotes and authentic artefacts, this true to life excursion will definitely spark your student’s quest for knowledge.

An affordable presentation for your school and one that will have your students talking for awhile to come.  So let your students experience the one of the most productive education incursion in Australia. show continues with a brief encounter of the trial of Lucky, however if convicted, you will need to book the Gold Show to witness the hilarious and often highly spoke of Flogging of the Miner (which every student loves to see) if found guilty.

Management Reply to Review Hi Tony, As the event supervisor I am happy to hear that the show and the quality and professionalism of the show. We always try to maintain a high standard of our shows as a large production company. Our Show prices for schools is heavily reduced to allow many schools to be able to afford the shows. I will definitely forward your suggestion to our accounts department. I would like to note that according to our records on your booking, the Tax Invoice was emailed quite a few times to your schools accounts person who informed us that they did not receive the email and this is why the Invoice was Faxed. However even after faxing the Invoice and the reminders, I see the account was not paid in full until the 4th reminder which included the admin fees. This is an unfortunate situation, however, we did try to remind your accounts team of the due date and balance multiple times and payment was not made or a request for a payment extension. I am sorry to hear that you experienced this, but I can see that we did try to help by adjusting a portion of the late fees.

    General Feedback

Contacting Iconic Performances and being advised of what type of show we would require and booking it was excellent The show was brilliant and very informative. The students loved the interactive nature and were able to learn in a fun and engaging way. Unfortunately there was some confusion regarding payment. This was mainly centered on us needing a tax invoice but only receiving a booking invoice initially. There were a number of queries from SJA and Iconic Performances that lasted for a few weeks. In addition there was quite a number of admin fees added onto the initial price which totaled just over $200. Deposit was paid on time. We received the tax invoice for the remaining amount via fax. This was then paid. A suggestion would be to email the tax invoice instead of fax. The show you put together is a very professional and very well thought out production which captivated the audience and meant they learnt quite a-lot. I would recommend Iconic Performances to anyone, just need to ensure accounts department runs smoothly. Cheers, Tony Barnes

    Educational Value

I was impressed. First time using Iconic Performances. The unit was well written, friendly, fun and involved everyone. Helped our students clearly match the lessons with reality.

    The Show and Event

The students loved all the humour and props. I didn't want to have the Bush Dance end. With the teachers involved to, it made us all enjoy the show. Again well written

    The Audience

It was funny, I loved it, the actor was real-life, what was his real voice like. Was it real syrup. It was hard at the Gold Fields. Our students screamed out at the end that they wanted the Gold Rush Experience. I think this is the longer incursion. Will consider it.

Review the booking process and Iconic Performances.

    Educational Value

I attended the "Strike Me Lucky" production at St Ignatius College Norwood SA on 8/9/2017. CONGRATULATIONS on an OUTSTANDING production!!!!! A first class performance!!!! For a brief moment in time, I felt as though I was transported back to the Australian gold fields in the late 1800s. The story line was clever, creative, informative and funny. The stage props looked authentic. A true testament of your brilliance and excellence was in the 70 odd students who were volunteering to come on stage and join the cast. There was so much laughter and engagement in the room that I (along with the audience) didn't want the production to end. The students and staff present appeared to have really enjoyed the performance and I am confident you will be asked to return in the future to perform again. Congratulations once a again on presenting a piece of Australian history in a multi-sensory way. The production was action-packed, funny and very informative. Never a dull moment. Thank You. I highly recommend you to all my schools. Sincerely, Dina Limberis - Adelaide

    The Show and Event

It's the first production that I have attended that almost every student in the room wanted to go on stage. At the end of the presentation, Iconic asked all the students who assisted the main character on stage to stand for applause and there must have been at least 20-30 students who stood up. Wow! That's a compliment to Iconic. Top marks for student engagement!!!

    The Audience

The students were disappointed that it was only a one hour show. They didn't want it to end.

Review the booking process and Iconic Performances.

As an educator, I highly recommend this production for all schools. A multi-sensory approach to solidify the content taught in the classroom about the Australian gold rush in the late 1800s. You will not be disappointed. Worth every cent!
