Product Description

Colonial Tales. school incursion is a great alternative to the full day "Colonial Show".

Providing 1 hour of non-stop fun, educational and accurate anecdotes, this is the show to select if you have a tight budget.

The Colonial Tales school incursion presents a hilarious and educationally wonderful experience - a living history of the convict - a journey as seen through the eyes of the children of New South Wales.

Sergeant Kennedy, the Wench or Convict James Murphy takes the students on a trip through the annals of time to the convict days and the early colony of New South Wales. The students relive the Voyage of the First Fleet, raise the King’s Colours, attend work orders and then this is where the fun begins as your students and school experience participation in a recruitment of soldiers into the New South Wales Corp and the arrest of a student convict.

Designed to provide more educational information than hands on interaction and fun, the 1 hour alternative show is a great alternative.

The questions are ...

  • What to do with the convict?

  • Can the students hold their wits and tell the story of the Black Velvet Band and how the British Government introduced the practise of Cribbing which framed tradesmen for the crime of theft?

  • Can they bear to hear the serious, yet funny stories told by the characters and the reason they were sent to the Colony of NSW?

Colonial Tales (1 hour show) school incursion is an informative performance filled with facts and student participation based on the Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) Syllabus "British Colonisation" and can ALSO be incorporated in the Connected Outcomes Group Support Curriculum (C.O.G.S) Syllabus.

This is an affordable show for all schools and there is only one way to find out if your students can dual with the Sergeant, laugh with the convict or believe the wench and that is to let your students experience one of the most productive education incursion in Australia.

Colonial Tales is an interactive show right in the safety of your school grounds.  It is a perfect event to have at your school to encourage, stimulate or enhance what the students are learning and is one of the best educational resources in Australia.

The Colonial Tales school incursion was written by qualified and experienced school teachers and is well scripted to enhance the learning outcomes taught in the school classroom.

    General Feedback

The children felt like they were "in the moment" when stories were told. They thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for the various acting parts. It was a fun, humorous performance and the costumes and props were superb. Thank-you for giving the grade 5's such a memorable show..
