The invoice wasn't sent till after the performance would of been good if it had of been sent before hand

The kids loved the show and how the actors interacted with the children. They learnt a great deal. It was loaded with good content which supported what we were teaching them at the time. The actors were excellent. The part when James was talking about Ireland the children found a little long. They loved the fact that our children could interact and participate. We liked how the performance was on different part of the stage not always in the same place. The kids loved it when the actors met them outside they didn't know what was happening. Good sitting them in their ships great way to learn about them. Fantastic show. We are rebooking. Actors were excellent. Kids loved their accents. Kids were shocked at how women were treated.

Props were good but there could have been more to generate more interest especially in the beginning with the Sergeants dialogue bit which was quite a big part of the show and he was on his own. Kids loved it. Loved learning about the musket.

Some of the dialogue at times was a little wordy for the Grade 4 children. The audience participation was great and the kids loved it. More of that would have been good. The show going all day needed to have a fast pace so kids didn't lose interest and different things to keep their interest high.

The vocab understandably made it hard for the audience to connect. Maybe you could send a vocab list to classes beforehand to help with this and prepare the students for a better understanding.

Great show! The children were very engaged and laughed most of the time while learning.

They were great, sometimes a bit scary, but good scary.

As a low social economical school we struggled to make the original payment, but having the discount helped a lot. Thanks.

Some content was inappropriate for children.

Unfortunately the cast was down one actor.

The performers were excellent and engaging. Ss enjoyed the show and had very positive comments.

They included certain Ss from the beginning in role play. Some Ss if not involved were unable to stay focused during the middle portion of the show, but that is understandable given the amount of content included.

The Ss say it was a great show and they learnt lots.

The students were very engaged and learnt a lot from this show.

Vince and his team always provide a top quality, believable performance which is a relevant and valuable learning experience.

There were times that the deaths of people were described in great detail which i believe was not appropriate for the students. They had no problems with being told about the deaths, however, the didn't like to hear the details of how.

Would be good if there was an opportunity to get all the students involved in something.

The students loved the day and said that they have learnt new things.

I believe that it is too expensive and the fact you need to pay for a hundred students regardless of the size of the class i think is something that stops people using the show. We were close to not using the show for that reason. It would be good if you charge the same price, however, you only have to pay for how many students you have attending. =============================================================== REPLY FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER: We have a variety of shows of shows that fit the budget and requirements of our customers. The whole day show is a very costly shows, because it is performed all day with numerous actors which is the reason for the minimum of 100 tickets. We offer a 2 hour Colonial experience that does not have a minimum of 100 tickets or the 1 Hour Colonial Tales, which is a great deal for affordable and customisable. Most schools and teachers choose the whole day show because the more detailed recount of the British Colonisation, offering more education content and interactivity. As a result the price is higher than the company's other shows to cover the costs.

All students were engaged during the whole performance. Students remembered facts and loved how they were shown. Vince and his team did a fantastic job!! We will be rebooking next year.

It was awesome!! Loved the whipping part

Our children had a great time and loved the themed performance and how it was interactive.

Martin and David were fantastic, the children really enjoyed the show and it was a great way to finish our work on First Contacts. The only thing that was difficult was when I booked online I could only enter 100 students and we only had 84 students in the stage, this made the cost much higher for our school. The show was still fantastic with only 70 students attending. It nearly deterred me from booking the show originally just a thought for Iconic in the future. Thank you to the performers for a fantastic show.

Overall all it was fantastic. Just would prefer to book for the number of students that are attending. Also it would be good if Iconic understood the billing process of schools. It was a little concerning at times even when our SAM had contacted to assure that the cheque had been sent. It takes a little while for cheques to be processed in a school and many schools do not have a credit card. The actual show was wonderful.

The ACARA curriculum has a significant indigenous component for this unit. The show doesn't even mention the indigenous perspectives.

Great audience participation

The information presented was mostly appropriate however the flogging simulation was probably a bit full on for 8 year olds! The interactive parts of the show were the best parts for the students as students at this age find it difficult to sit still on the floor for very long.

As previously said, when dealing with 8 year olds it can be difficult to have them sitting too long listening to back stories. The morning session was good but the next two sessions were much better as more participation.

The students really loved the whole day and were absolutely buzzing afterwards! They loved the characters and loved being immersed in the whole experience.

The students were seated for great lengths of time. They needed to get up and move. Perhaps they could do a dance, move around in their ship group to the different characters or play some kind of game where they are running from the seargent?? Adult humour and jokes were appreciated by the staff!

This is the second time we have had Vince at our school. Well worth it.

Highly recommended experience reliving Australian history. Children learnt more in one day in real life in an interesting way, than can be taught in classrooms. Thank You.

It was enjoyable and a wonderful experience all round. With the lashing all though it was fabulous and a great experience it left a lot of food colouring all over the hall and carpet which is difficult to clean up and come out. The teachers had to clean up the mess the next day all over the stage cupboards and floor. It may have been appreciated for the clean up.

Paying a $500 deposit well in advance is difficult for our school and creates problems using the new LMBR operating system that all schools will use in the future.

We continued studying British Colonisation after the event, and I have found that it helped lots of kids to imagine a variety of things that they hadn't previously been able to grasp: the chained convicts, flogging, the brutality of their treatment. They were fascinated by the 'necklace' the women had to wear, and with convoluted story of the Girl with the Black Velvet Band. Congratulations on a very well balanced and educational yet entertaining show. We were extremely impressed.

The ninety two children were captive from start to finish. Shy children were totally engaged by the end. Well done!

History comes to life with memorable involvement for all 3 -6.

The children were engaged actively all day and thoroughly enjoyed the interactive mature of the performance. All students gained an extensive understanding of conditions in the penal Colony.

I just was a little concerned about the scenario of the female convict who tells the story of how her child was taken from her. We have a number of children who are no longer in the custody of their parents and have been removed from the family home. It is a very sensitive issue.

It was well liked by all.

Although the performance was fantastic, the booking process would prevent us from booking with Iconic Performances again. As a school, it makes it very difficult to pinpoint the exact number of students attending at the time of booking. If you could book within a range, or give a number closer to the date, it would be much easier. For example, a theatre at Newcastle takes a tentative booking and then a few weeks before we can give them the final numbers

Very relevant to what all Year 4 teachers were studying with their students during term one.

The Sergeant was great. Wonderful use of his deep voice and very expressive presentation. His timing and persona were fabulous. The recall of facts by students this morning was astounding. They loved dressing up. They loved being able to sing the three songs ....Botany Bay, Wild Rover and Black Velvet Band Loved the acting. The first hour outside the school hall was the best. Loved the way all students could participate and 'have a turn' during the day. All students were very engaged.

Great Resource to encourage learning of Australian History. The educational content was so closely related to our lessons in class.

The actors were very good at staying in character. The soldier was a bit scary sometimes, could be toned down, which he did towards the end.

I loved the soldier, Was that woman really English? That was great! However, the students sat still for too long in Act 1.

Thank you for a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage in the Colonial Show. It presents to them a living glimpse of what the colonial days were really like and gives an account of history of pre and early settlement days in Australia. This enhanced and brought to life their learning. Thanks.

Funny Great Learning tool. Good historical information. We used this show as a final activity to the terms unit . The questioning throughout the show displayed the knowledge the children have actually picked up through the term. The children learnt new facts as well.

Liked the chance to be involved in the show. Funny. Learned some new things. Having the children well involved. All chn were engaged throughout the show. The acts were planned around our school break times. The need to have the songs and information well before as we didn't have time to learn the songs . As this was our first experience with this performance we did not realise the need to pre arrange some of the characters and the need to sing. We could have had the music teacher involved.

Ability to relate to children

Ben and Emma stood out. The event was appropriate for the age group of the audience. We like the huge amount of child participation. It was Funny but educational.

Students and staff alike enjoyed being able to participate.

Hugh was highly engaging, entertaining and his genuine passion for his craft shone through. Our school had an unfortunate incident where one of the actors(who had all the props with him) was ill and could not come on the morning of our original booking. Hugh went above and beyond to ensure our students, who had come dressed in costumes, had a morning tasting session and weren't left disappointed. The company was very professional. They gave us a free whole day show at no extra cost and this show was even better than the 2 hour shows that Hugh gave us. Thank you so much for how you sorted out the problem with the performer being sick.

Thank you for teaching our students about the early days of Australia. It was a wonderful day.
