The show was absolutely fantastic! The children thoroughly enjoyed the immersive nature of the show and took a lot away from it. However, we found one of the crew members extremely demanding. One instance was him calling our staff member at 6:29am to see where she was because she was not yet there to open up the gate. It was not yet even 6:30am. We found this quite rude. We also understand that they are unable to move furniture due to OH&S. But they did move main furniture such as the teachers desk and did not replace it to it's original spot after use. It was such a shame as the performance and Producer of the crew involved were so lovely.

The price can be expensive, but the quality of the incursion and the content and the student involvement is worth it. When comparing the cost of adding a bus and the organising of 100 children to walk to the city, this is worth it. This is the best incursion we have regularly.

We book every year and every year it meets what we teach. It was nice to witness the National Curriculum was included to.

We book every year and the Colonial Show provides our students with a great way to match their lessons to something real. Our students from last year wanted to be involved this year.

The content was spot on with what our students had been learning. It gave them enough opportunity to use their prior knowledge as well as introduce new information and facts to keep them engaged. It was great for students to see stories which they had been learning about come alive through music and theatre!

The actors, set, music and sound effects were enaging enough and the interaction with the students really consolidated their learning and made it come alive. The students enjoyed the initial act where they spilt up into their convict ships. They also reallyed enjoyed the journey of the convicts- the irish jig and the songs. I think there was a good balance of whole group-small group and individual participation in order for all students to feel involved.

The students particularly empathised with James and felt sorry him whilst at the same time some even said they were scared of Sgt Kennedy because he was so strict and harsh! Students really enjoyed engaging with the actors throughout the show but I think overall James was their favourite character who they thought was hilarious! They loved the surprise element of getting wet on the ships too!! They also enjoyed the flogging even if it was a bit gory! They left the show so excited and enthused to continue their learning on this topic. Here are some quotes: " This was the best day ever. yesterday was out of this world! I deifnitely enjoyed when James got flogged because you added so much detail like the fake lood and the whip!" (Siobhan-8yr old girl) " I learnt lots of facts from your show and has inspired me to act when I am older!" (Kohen-9yr old boy) " I loved the acting, at point i almost cried! I felt bad for James getting flogged but I loved how realistic it was and the sound effects! It was crazy! (Corey-9yrs old) " I wanted to say a huge thankyou for coming all the way just to see us. We had the BEST time of our lives. The show was so amazing! THANKYOU so much. It was like we had famous actors come and do the funniest acts!" Lily 9yrs old.

Thankyou to the administration team too who promptly responded to questions we had and were able to promptly send information too. The communication between the booking agents and our school was excellent and made the process of organising such a large incursion, easy.

Very impressed. Our students were able to fill out a questionnaire after the show and we were impressed with how much they remembered.

There were 100 students and the actors made everyone do something. this is a well structured show that add humour, student involvement and educational content very well.

The show was performed so well that all the students were 100% engaged the whole day. They learnt about all aspects of Colonial life with pictures, sounds and props. Students were even involved in the performance which made it memorable for them.

The kids really enjoyed it and appreciated it. They involved plenty of students and it was like everyone had a turn.

The students said they thought it was going to be boring because it was about the olden days but they actually loved it.

Beats the long travels to the Rocks or Living Museums. The cost is a little more expensive when adding the bus fare but the students achieve a lot more out of the show then the short time they have at the other places.

The constant ringing of the bell during the performance was distracting to students and the staff. We were not sure of its purpose. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed the show and the staff were fantastic.

At times during the show the educational content that was being delivered during this time was significant, relevant and important and challenging fro many students.

Thankyou so much- maybe the only criticism is that the booklet was a little hard to follow- when teachers have so little time having a contents page that easily set out what we needed to do quite clearly to support the performance occurring would make it easier,

I feel as though 3 hours to set up and pack away is a long time. Teachers are not on premises at 6:30am and are sometimes not at school at 5:30pm.

It was quite hard to communicate with the company and have people get back to me. Each time it was a different person. At times people were not available to speak to. The performance was fantastic though.

Actors and crew very organised and communicated well. Students were able to experience the harshness of convict life. Covered many aspects of reasons for being sent to Australia, the journey and life when they arrived.

Kids had lots of opportunities to be involved and found it entertaining.

The sets were quite good and most role plays well done. The girl with the black velvet band role play was a bit drawn out for the end of the day. Due to a lack of interest, we couldn't get the numbers required to cover our own costs. We could have been assisted with a promotional brochure or flier. Thanks

The show is so close to the National curriculum and what we teach in class. One of the best shows in NSW for schools and for Australia History.

The children went home and told their families how much they enjoyed the show. We had calls and emails from parents to support this. "That was the best day!" "I loved it! "

It was even better thus year since the last time with improvements in adding mics, sound effects, and music. It was like going to the theatre, but all setup in the convenience if our school. What a wonderful day.

The staff were fantastic at helping to work in with the limited space available on the day. They were very positive when asked to make changes. Staff were extremely professional from the moment of arrival to departure.

The children felt like they were "in the moment" when stories were told. They thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for the various acting parts. It was a fun, humorous performance and the costumes and props were superb. Thank-you for giving the grade 5's such a memorable show..

Thank you for engaging our students all day. They really benefited from the interactive nature of the show and from a teacher's perspective the movement breaks were cleverly incorporated. We really enjoyed the day and look forward to hopefully having you again next year.

Perhaps include some colonial dances of that era. Games the children played. Tradesman scene took too long. Black VELVET band. Students can't concentrate and follow for that length of time. Great involvement of the 11 student characters.

Event was appropriate except for some comments about women. It would be worth prefacing the show for the boys with the fact that this is authentic 1780 behaviour and we dont expect that from modern day people

The actors delivered succinct and clear educational content in such an interactive and engaging format that the students were enthralled and immersed in such an educationally rich experience that they did not realise that they were "learning". The information delivered both supported and went beyond the curriculum and was at a perfect level for students to comprehend as well as expanding and challenging their thinking.

I loved the student and teacher interaction and the individualism that was ascribed to us on the day. I was dressed as a "Lady"whilst my fellow teachers were "convicts" and this was incorporated into the show, which the students loved. Treating the students as "convicts" was such an engaging experience for them and really helped them to understand the educational component. The interactive activities also helped to engage the students all day, they wished it could have gone on for longer and were so disappointed that the day ended!

From the students: "Miss, that was the BEST incursion EVER" "Can we do that again?" "I learnt SO much!" "Wow! The Redcoats were mean! I am glad I am not a convict!" "It was so funny when they made the other teachers get married!" "It was so cool how you were a Lady Miss, and everyone else was a smelly convict!" "Are they REALLY convicts and Redcoats?" From the teachers: "What an amazing, interactive, engaging experience. In all my years of teaching this unit, this by far was the best incursion/excursion experience! It reminds me of Old Sydney Town, but even better suited to today's children. I am definitely booking again for next year!"

I would highly recommend this show to all school groups. It was engaging, entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable. Not only did it ensure an unforgettable learning experience for my students in an educational context, it was an experience they will forever remember for the enjoyment and uniqueness. As a teacher I also appreciated the two levels of entertainment and double entendres that were peppered throughout the show, making it enjoyable on an adult level as well. The professionalism of the team of four that were at our school, both performers and roadie, where of the highest quality and I hope that I will be able to have the same team when I book again for next year. I have already emailed other schools highly recommending this show, and would happily promote it!

The middle session (act 2) was a long time for year 3/4 students to just sit and watch.

The energy and knowledge of the actors was amazing. They engaged the students with a range of strategies, such as detailed information to gory stories. They used many students to interact within the stories and explained every part of the experience as they went.

The use of the students to play important roles created an engaging experience for all the students. The costumes and props displayed the authentic nature of the experience.

In general the students were able to demonstrate a large understanding of the content taught throughout the day. There was not one negative response to the day or the actors.

We opted out of the 'whipping' scene. I can only imagine that most primary schools would do this (I'm sure you could only imagine the backlash from parents). I know that this was actually what used to happen, and it also used to be recreated at Old Sydney Town, but I think it's something that may need to be removed altogether? All in all, a great show and the kids really enjoyed themselves.

The last session could involve more audience participation, as the students were sitting down for quite a while.

Students thought it was funny, particularly the drunk man. They thought the story about the girl with the black velvet band was very interesting. They liked the chains and the songs, as well as the gun replicas.

We want to say a BIG thank you to the actors from the Colonial show! It was a most enjoyable day, with lots of information and laughter! The show itself was most informative, the students (and the teachers) learned a lot. The students are currently writing a recount about the day - some are easily writing multiple pages! We have had some amazing feedback from the parents who also said their children enjoyed the day. Thank you again!

It was fantastic, however, we had some repercussions from having a husband and wife pairing as those kids were teased.

The children loved the whole day - the middle part between recess and lunch break was a bit long for them to be sitting and listening so some of the kids were bored. The rest was great and they were NOT bored!
