A well written show that helped our students understand what we were teaching.

Very interactive. More than we thought. We book other shows locally and they don't hold the students attention. Even our special students did not need to be looked after because there was a lot for them to do.

This event even had our 'high flyers' captivated. Well done.

Would have liked an opportunity to learn song before coming.

One change this year, was that we did not start in class groups and therefore when we broke up into activity groups not all students were with their teacher, this created a couple of problems as pastoral teachers we not able to assist special needs. The actors were happy to re-group when we brought this up. Thank you

Students were very engaged and felt they could participate. We had many who would not normally get up on stage participate. however, for some the noise and shouting is distressing, and we allowed them to sit at the back.

Very well written to match the units we were studying. Not enough indigenous information, could have had more.

Our children loved the show. The price was a little pricey but it was worth it. The staff were very friendly and easy to work with and very helpful. Compared to excursions, the price per student was better than we had last year when someone came it and read books.

Recommended to all schools. Don't worry about the price, the students get alot out of the show.

We loved that it was entertaining and humorous and the actors stayed in character all day. We loved that staff were involved too. The only thing to be improved was the feedback through the speakers and how loud it got at times, but overall was fantastic. Teachers and students smiled all day

They picked same kids a few times and some disappointed to not get picked. But still great interaction with them.

Great show - loved it, only one area to improve: 1. Alot of the historical vocabulary wasnt understood by most of the students. Eg. latrine = toilet. Having a list of words that you use in the show so that teachers could explain to students before the day of the show would indeed be helpful for next time.

Maybe during the 3 group times, asking who hasn't had a turn to participate, or preparing the teachers to tell students before the day, to take turns, and if a student has had a turn, then not to put their hand up - to share the participation - as the actors couldn't really tell who had already participated.

Every year we book and every year it becomes better. Enjoyed the new match with the First Fleet syllabus

We book this every 2 years. And each time the show improves. The other teachers and I thought the change using the National Curriculum really helped make this incursion even more important to our lesson plans. It related and supported the curriculum closely and it makes it very easy for our students to understand.

I am surprised at how much fun is placed in the show with all the educational parts. it is will mixed and balanced with facts and laughs.

The long march to Sydney Cove i thought was an interesting way to show the children what happened when the convicts were disembarked.

Children loved the flogging. Some of the children found - the dialogue hard to hear. (voices too soft) - the dialogue too fast.

The crew did a great job when a couple of students were not too confident in front of their peers - they got around that really tactfully.

I loved how they made us laugh. I loved how they were treating us like convicts and wet us with water. Abigail They were really funny and they taught us lots of things about the First Fleet and what convicts had as a punishment. William I liked the surprises, like when you threw water at us. You made it seem so real as if we were there. I learned how harsh it was for the convicts. Laura I really liked: * How the actors made it so realistic * When we got splashed with water * The cool weapons * Seargent Kennedy was so funny! Talyn It was an amazing show. I learned a lot and it was so funny! My favourite part was when the people made soap. I loved it!! Hayley The man who did the sound was awesome. He made me feel so real like i was there. I have seen this show at my previous school at Penshurst West. Each year it improves and is more closely linked with the student's learning lessons. What was great this year is the new format that linked to the National Curriculum. We did post activities and me and the other teachers were very impressed by how much more the students remembered significant things about the unit then from teaching alone in the class.

Better than going to the Rocks or Hyde Parks Barracks. The interaction of the show and the design of how they make it a journey of discovery meant the children were busy doing and listening and involved from start to finished. I do like the entertaining side now as well.

Will they come back next year. Thank you miss for an awesome school activity. The Sergeant was so real. I liked the convict he was funny. Did they really get treated like that. Best one ever.

Thank you for bringing this show again to another government school I work with and for providing again a great show for the students to learn about history.

I t covered many aspects and more giving the students a great insight into the Colonial time regarding clothes, food, shelter, attitudes etc.

The show has improved alot and is better than a few years ago when we had them. With a company now running the show, the show is more professional, more age appropriate and curriculum orientated.

The show was absolutely fantastic! The children thoroughly enjoyed the immersive nature of the show and took a lot away from it. However, we found one of the crew members extremely demanding. One instance was him calling our staff member at 6:29am to see where she was because she was not yet there to open up the gate. It was not yet even 6:30am. We found this quite rude. We also understand that they are unable to move furniture due to OH&S. But they did move main furniture such as the teachers desk and did not replace it to it's original spot after use. It was such a shame as the performance and Producer of the crew involved were so lovely.

The price can be expensive, but the quality of the incursion and the content and the student involvement is worth it. When comparing the cost of adding a bus and the organising of 100 children to walk to the city, this is worth it. This is the best incursion we have regularly.

Matched what we were teaching. Very helpful

We book every year and every year it meets what we teach. It was nice to witness the National Curriculum was included to.

We book every year and the Colonial Show provides our students with a great way to match their lessons to something real. Our students from last year wanted to be involved this year.

The content was spot on with what our students had been learning. It gave them enough opportunity to use their prior knowledge as well as introduce new information and facts to keep them engaged. It was great for students to see stories which they had been learning about come alive through music and theatre!

The actors, set, music and sound effects were enaging enough and the interaction with the students really consolidated their learning and made it come alive. The students enjoyed the initial act where they spilt up into their convict ships. They also reallyed enjoyed the journey of the convicts- the irish jig and the songs. I think there was a good balance of whole group-small group and individual participation in order for all students to feel involved.

The students particularly empathised with James and felt sorry him whilst at the same time some even said they were scared of Sgt Kennedy because he was so strict and harsh! Students really enjoyed engaging with the actors throughout the show but I think overall James was their favourite character who they thought was hilarious! They loved the surprise element of getting wet on the ships too!! They also enjoyed the flogging even if it was a bit gory! They left the show so excited and enthused to continue their learning on this topic. Here are some quotes: " This was the best day ever. yesterday was out of this world! I deifnitely enjoyed when James got flogged because you added so much detail like the fake lood and the whip!" (Siobhan-8yr old girl) " I learnt lots of facts from your show and has inspired me to act when I am older!" (Kohen-9yr old boy) " I loved the acting, at point i almost cried! I felt bad for James getting flogged but I loved how realistic it was and the sound effects! It was crazy! (Corey-9yrs old) " I wanted to say a huge thankyou for coming all the way just to see us. We had the BEST time of our lives. The show was so amazing! THANKYOU so much. It was like we had famous actors come and do the funniest acts!" Lily 9yrs old.

Thankyou to the administration team too who promptly responded to questions we had and were able to promptly send information too. The communication between the booking agents and our school was excellent and made the process of organising such a large incursion, easy.

Very impressed. Our students were able to fill out a questionnaire after the show and we were impressed with how much they remembered.

There were 100 students and the actors made everyone do something. this is a well structured show that add humour, student involvement and educational content very well.

very appropriate for the new national curriculum

The show was performed so well that all the students were 100% engaged the whole day. They learnt about all aspects of Colonial life with pictures, sounds and props. Students were even involved in the performance which made it memorable for them.

The kids really enjoyed it and appreciated it. They involved plenty of students and it was like everyone had a turn.

The students said they thought it was going to be boring because it was about the olden days but they actually loved it.
